Abstract

Dynamic Mode I delamination initiation in a z-pinned woven composite laminate is studied using a Wedge Insertion Fracture (WIF) method on a Kolsky Bar apparatus. It is shown that there exists a positive correlation between fracture initiation load and loading rate for all loading rates and z-pin diameters studied.
