Abstract
The papers surveys the achievements in the field of wireless communications made over the past 10 years. A cordless telephone and cellular telephone systems are described. It is shown that wireless data services and systems represent an important and growing segment of the communication industry. Two principal areas that relate to data acquisition are: low-speed data applications that can be handled by private mobile data networks and data services carried on cellular telephone networks, and high-speed data applications in local areas that can be provided by private branch exchange systems, as well as the emerging personal communication services. Addresses for finding on-line information on this problem are presented.
