It is shown that wireless data services and systems represent an important and growing segment of the communication industry. Two principal areas that relate to data acquisition are: low-speed data applications that can be handled by private mobile data networks and data services carried on cellular telephone networks, and high-speed data applications in local areas that can be provided by private branch exchange systems, as well as the emerging personal communication services. Addresses for finding on-line information on this problem are presented.
