Abstract

NESTLE is a 3D nodal core simulator that has been in use for over 25 years, and further development continues at the University of Tennessee. As part of NESTLE's ongoing verification and validation process, several computational comparisons have been made to quantify the discrepancies in NESTLE's hexagonal pin power reconstruction method. In this paper, we present the results of these code-to-code comparisons and find that the RMS error in pin power is comparable to other nodal codes. We also discuss future developments to improve NESTLE's pin power reconstruction methods.
