Abstract

Results from laboratory and field-scale experiments are used to constrain thermohydrological models used in studies of the potential geologic high-level waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada. The experiments were a laboratory-scale heater test conducted by the Center for Nuclear Waste Regulatory Analyses and the field-scale Drift-Scale Heater Test conducted by the U.S. Department of Energy. Key observations from the heater tests included the evolution of temperature and the formation of zones of dryout and elevated saturation in the tested volumes. The multiphase code MULTIFLO
