Abstract

Microstructure and phase equilibria of selected alloys at the Ti-rich corner of the Ti-Si-B system were studied in as-cast and long-term annealed conditions by a variety of experimental techniques. A thermodynamic description of the Ti-Si-B system was developed based on the constituent binary systems and ternary experimental data either from this study or literature. The isothermal section at 1250 °C and liquidus projection were calculated from the currently obtained thermodynamic description and then compared with experimental data.
