Abstract

The ^l7F(p,γ)¹⁸Ne direct capture cross section is important for understanding nucleosynthesis in novae. We have measured cross sections for the proton-transfer reaction ¹⁴N(¹⁷F,¹⁸Ne)¹³C in order to determine asymptotic normalization coefficients for the ¹⁷F+p system and hence the ¹⁷F(p,γ)¹⁸Ne direct capture cross section. The technique and preliminary results are presented.
