Abstract

We present the optical design of the liquids reflectometer currently under construction at the Spallation Neutron Source. By utilizing a multi-channel bender and a tapered guide, we can eliminate sample-moderator line-of-sight and provide angular dispersion for reflectivity measurements of liquid surfaces. The fast-neutron background of such an instrument is comparable to that present in a direct-view instrument employing a 30-cm thick Inconel t0 chopper.
