Abstract

Metal industries are considered as noteworthy energy consumers. Also, due to the manufacturing process, there are many environmental concerns around these industries. For this study, the main focus was on foundries. The data collected from the results of energy assessments that were performed by the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Industrial Assessment Center visited between 2015-2017 in Wisconsin. A detail discussion on the energy saving possibilities through the improvement of manufacturing was provided. Finally, as a case study, two facilities were selected, and a detailed investigation of the opportunities for implementing renewable energy was investigated.
