Abstract
The Monte Carlo simulation of neutron transmitted and scattered by disk choppers of various compositions was discussed. The fraction of scattered neutron per unit solid angle was computated as a function of the emerging angle (φs), the fraction of transmitted neutrons (φu), and the ratio between these fractions. The results showed that the attenuation factors for neutrons of energies less than 0.05 eV are > 106 at the maximum thicknesses of all simulated absorber materials. The ratio between the fractions was constant in the entire simulated energy range and was lowest of all the materials.
