Abstract

A Lissajous figure and surfaces of section are presented which show a 4:7 nonlinear resonance between two selectively excited coordinates of a system containing 900 degrees of freedom. The significance of this work is; first, plots of this nature have never before been constructed for a multidimensional system this large; and second, the nonlinear resonance exists between two collective modes of the linear macromolecule.
