Abstract
Diffractometer D19 at the ILL is being used to locate water around hyaluronate, a polysaccharide present in the extracellular matrix of mammalian connective tissue and the capsule of some bacteria. Data to 3 A° resolution have been collected from hydrated fibres where H2O has been replaced by D2O.
