N2 - Spectrum detection is one of the most important tasks that can lead to adaptive transceiver design for new generation intelligent wireless systems. In particular, the detection of LOS and NLOS signals is of great importance for THz communication, since THz band communication is almost interrupted if no LOS component is present in the receiver signal. Therefore, it is imperative to reconfigure the receiver to adapt the dynamic changes in the wireless spectrum using simple but accurate spectrum detection methods. In this study, the energy sensor approach is investigated by using probability mass function (PMF) output statistics to determine the presence or absence of LOS signal. An experimental setup was prepared to investigate the performance of the energy sensor for LOS and NLOS THz band signals. In this study, the results of the analysis based on the experimental setup and the discussions about the results are given. Measurement results show that energy sensors can be used for LOS/NLOS detection in THz wireless communication systems.
