Abstract
The surface spin-flop (SSF) transition in epitaxial Co/Re superlattices was discussed. The bulk and surface spin-flop transitions were observed by both magneto-optic Kerr effect (MOKE) hysteresis loops and magnetoresistance (MR) measurements. Analysis showed that there was more current flowing through the magnetic layer in Co/Re than either Co/Cr or Fe/Cr, which enhanced the anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) component, in Co/Re, making the SSF more noticeable.
