Abstract

A discrete-line superdomed band was identified in ₂₀⁴⁰Ca₂₀. The SD character of the identified band is inferred from a large transition quadrupole moment. Calculations revealed that the SD band is based on an 8p-8h excitation in the (sd) (fp) shell.
