Abstract

Selection of suitable containment materials has been a major obstacle in the successful implementation of black liquor gasification. Through examination of exposed components, laboratory corrosion tests and cooperative efforts with refractory manufacturers, the refractory materials issues in high-temperature black liquor gasification are being addressed.
