Abstract
It is shown by the method of neutron diffraction that the structural type of the investigated ultradispersed titanium nitride particles is the same as in the bulk material. It is established that the rms displacements of nitrogen and titanium atoms are larger than the corresponding values in bulk samples. In addition to the already known effect of a decrease in the mean interatomic distances in small particles, an asymmetry in the diffraction maxima profile is noted which attests to the inhomogeneous character of the deformation of ultradispersed particles.
