Strangeness@RHIC: The PHENIX perspective

Research output: Contribution to journalReview articlepeer-review

Abstract

The RHIC era in relativistic heavy-ion collisions promises to be an exciting time of experimental revelation of the properties of high-temperature quantum chromodynamics and the quark-gluon plasma. In this paper I will introduce the PHENIX experiment's capabilities and physics goals, and discuss in particular measurements of strangeness production that will be made by the PHENIX collaboration as part of a comprehensive physics programme.
