Abstract

Spinel Li1+xMn2O4 was prepared by the coprecipitation of LiOH and Mn(OH)2 in ethyl alcohol. The particle size is about 2 μm with a narrow distribution. Cyclic voltammetry experiments using the Li/ethylene carbonate + dimethoxyethane + LiClO4/Li1+xMn2O4 cells show good reversibility of lithium deintercalation and intercalation in the spinel phase of Li1+xMn2O4. The initial reversible capacities are about 120 mA h/g and 140 mA h/g for x = 0 and x = 0.2, respectively.
