Abstract
We present inelastic neutron scattering experiments of the magnetic excitation spectra of CoCl2·2D2O. We find that the excitation energies are well described by the predictions of linear spin-wave theory for a system of weakly coupled ferromagnetic Ising chains. We use the calculated spin-wave intensities to test the (predicted) existence of magnetic Bloch oscillations in this system. We show that these magnetic Bloch oscillations cannot be observed in CoCl2·2D2O.
