Abstract

The spin ice nature of the zero field spin correlations at low temperature in Ho2Ti2O7 was studied using specific heat data and neutron scattering experiments. Dipolar spin ice model was used to accurately describe the diffuse magnetic neutron scattering. The heat capacity was accounted for by an expected nuclear spin contribution and addition of dipolar spin ice contributions.
