Abstract
A physical model of light collection processes in scintillation detectors based on heavy crystals (PhWO4) is analyzed on the basis of the existing and experimental data obtained in this work. The conclusion is made that it is necessary to take into account the light re-scattering in a crystal volume and light reflection from the photosensitive layer of the photomultiplier tube.
