Abstract

An insulated Frisch ring design was investigated for single-charge-carrier- type sensing CdZnTe planar semiconductor radiation detectors. The Frisch ring was insulated from detector surface with Teflon and was composed of copper. The performance optimization of insulated ring included variables such as Frisch ring length and bias voltage. The results show 4 mm extension from cathode toward anode with energy resolution of 1.7% full width at half maximum at 662 keV.
