    Abstract

The MPACT neutronics module of the Consortium for Advanced Simulation of Light Water Reactors (CASL) core simulator has used the MPACT cross section library based on the HELIOS and DeCART library format. The MPACT library format includes resonance data only for the specified nuclides and energy groups, scattering matrices for important nuclides and, duplicated cross sections for activation and fission product isotopes. Therefore, significant effort is required to enhance accuracy and to apply it to new fuel types. Since this MPACT library format has drawbacks that limit further improvement and generality, a new format cross section library called Simplified AMPX (SAMPX) has been developed. The SAMPX library is entirely based on the ENDF/B nuclear data file, and it includes all the ENDF/B nuclides and their cross sections, resonance data, and scattering matrices. The SAMPX library and its processing method were developed in this study.
