Abstract
High-spin states in Cd109,111 have been investigated with the reaction Zr96(18O,xn)114-xCd at beam energies of 60 and 70 MeV. The decoupled yrast bands observed in both nuclei are interpreted as being built upon a low-Kh11/2-quasineutron configuration. Both structures exhibit band crossings corresponding to the rotational alignment of a pair of h11/2 quasineutrons. Two positive-parity bands built on a g7/2-quasineutron configuration are observed in Cd109. These exhibit a signature inversion in the region of the first (νh11/2)2 alignment. This may be associated with some softness to triaxiality. The results are discussed in terms of the cranked shell model, total Routhian surface calculations, and the systematics of neighboring nuclei.
