Abstract
The Verified, Archived Library of Inputs and Data (VALID) maintained by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is currently undergoing a revision to the QA procedure used in providing a framework for preparing, reviewing, and storing model inputs and derived data to be used for analyses. This paper provides a description of the three purposes for the revision: (1) to migrate the VALID library from a Linux fileserver to a revision-controlled repository, (2) to migrate the tracking software for process implementation to the GitLab issue-tracking system, and (3) to simplify the procedure by eliminating a number of redundant steps in the current process. The migration of the library to a version-controlled repository enables these procedural improvements, reducing the documentation burden on originators and reviewers working within the procedure. It also facilitates mirroring the internal repository to an ORNL-hosted external site from which internal and external users will have access to updates as they are finalized. This enhancement significantly increases the value of VALID to the nuclear criticality safety community.
