Abstract

Acoustic attenuation and light scattering data were compared for investigating relaxation processes in polymethylmethacrylate. It was found that the model of asymmetric double well potentials cannot describe all the data consistently. A good agreement of the model with experimental data was noticed on assuming an additional relaxation in GHz region with a constant loss spectrum. The frequency range from 1 Hz to 17 GHz was covered by acoustic attenuation data and from 0.5 t0 10,000 GHz was covered by light scattering.
