Abstract

Sentinel signs and surveillance may be used for heightening security for communities, governments, and nations in many different ways, including nuclear and radiological security. This article will review many cases from common source, online searches that display the importance of the clinician's diagnosis as identifying a potential radiation injury or illness. The common patterns or trends that need to be used for sentinel signs or symptoms of radiation as the etiology and subsequent notification of authorities will be reviewed.
