Abstract

Spectra of combination light scattering of α-selenium were studied. Evolution of molecular structure was traced in case selenium transformation from amorphous to crystalline state during crystallization induced by laser radiation. The observed transformation was of pronounced threshold character. Amorphous selenium on average order scale was of structure intermediate between polymeric and routine three-dimensional glass networks. Selenium chains mostly likely formed structure close to structure of linear polymers at the scales near 10 A.
