Abstract
The interfacial properties of a fibre-reinforced ceramic matrix composite (SiCf/SiC) have been determined from single-fibre push-out tests on small fibres (10-15 μm diameter). The coefficient of friction μ and the residual clamping stress σc have been extracted from the experimental stress against the fibre-end displacement curve using the Hsueh model. The intrinsic interfacial frictional stresses (τ= μσc) have been calculated from the values of the former parameters.
