Abstract

A design and data collection methodology for gathering long term moisture content and related data in a wood-frame home under field condition was discussed. The lead cables from moisture probes were connected to a multiplexer which allowed conditioning of each signal amplifier. There was considerable absolute electric resistance variation across various wood species. The results showed that the logarithimic relationship between moisture content and resistance tends to reduce the effect of this variation on estimated moisture content.
