Abstract

Light Emitting Diode (LED) power supply schemes are essential for optimal operation of the LED lighting modules. With the improvement in LED technology, advanced LED driving schemes have been proposed and implemented. In this paper, a brief introduction about the electrical characteristics of LEDs is provided. The need for LED drivers is discussed. Several driver modules, which are composed of single-stage and two-stage power regulation circuits used for low-power and high-power applications, are discussed. Auxiliary circuits, which are used with these drivers to improve the performance of LED lamps and maintain uniform brightness, are also discussed.
