Abstract
The minimum photon energy to ionize N, N, N′, N′-tetramethyl-p-phenylenediamine (TMPD) and perylene in liquid n-hexane was determined to be 5.03 and 5.34eV, respectively. The determination of the photoionization onset for these compounds was made from a measurement of the respective integrated fluorescence quantum intensities as a function of the excitation photon energy, and the effects on these excitation spectra of perfluoro-n-hexane, an electron attaching compound.
