Abstract

Reaction of either Cp(NO)Mo(η 2)-C(O)-p-tol)-Fe(CO)2Cp (3) (p-tol = p-tolyl) or Cp(CO)(NO)Mo=C-(OLi)R (1) with I2gives the η 2-acyl complexes Cp(NO)-(i)mo(η 2-C(O)R (4) (R = p-tol, 4-t-BuC6H4, Me). Oxidation of 4 (R = aryl) gives carboxylato complex 5, while reaction of 4 (R = p-tol) with PMe3gives at least a 95:5 ratio of diastereomers of the ylide complex Cp(NOXI)Mo(η 2-C-(0)(PMe3)-p-tol) (6).
