Abstract

The emission spectra and the integrated emission intensities for 11 efficient scintillator solutes in 2-ethyl napthalene excited by x rays are reported. Data are also presented on the quenching of scintillation emissions by various materials used for loading liquid scintillators. Pulse heights under β- and γ-ray excitation are also given, and new, efficient liquid scintillators are suggested. The role of solvent excimers in organic scintillators is discussed.
