Abstract
Neutron powder diffraction studies were performed on ErCr4Al8 and several compounds of the type RMn4Al8 (R ≡ Pr, Nd, Tb, Dy, Ho). A strong preferential site occupation of the 3d element on one of the three non-equivalent transition metal sites of the ThMn12-type structure has been observed.
