Abstract

Neutron sensors are a primary component of most nuclear instrumentation (NI) channels in a power reactor. The operability of a neutron sensor-based NI channel can in large part depend on the condition and performance of the neutron sensor. Surveillance of the neutron sensor, especially if performed on-line and in real time, can be a valuable aid in maintaining reliable NI channel, and consequently, overall plant operation. This paper discusses on-line surveillance methods for neutron sensors.
