Abstract

Coolant temperature coefficient (CTC) in a liquid metalcooled fast reactor have been considered as challenging problems to be resolved. This paper presents two novel passive safety devices for sodium cooled fast reactors: SAFE (Static Absorber Feedback Equipment) and FAST (Floating Absorber for Safety at Transient) to reduce and balance the positive CVR and CTC to be near zero or negative. The performance of FAST and SAFE devices are assessed from neutronics perspective in an innovative Sodium-cooled Fast Reactor (iSFR).
