Abstract
The magnetic properties of HoBaCo4O7 with alternating kagome and triangular lattices were investigated by magnetization and neutron scattering measurements on a single-crystal sample. Elastic neutron experiment revealed the presences of two types of commensurate superlattice reflections and one type of incommensurate reflection at low temperature. The temperature dependence of these superlattice reflections indicates that magnetic ordering emerges below 105 K, accompanied by hysteresis between 20 and 70 K. Magnetization measurements showed an anomaly at 70 K rather than at 105 K. In inelastic neutron experiment, weak magnetic quasi-elastic scattering connecting the superlattice points was observed around the magnetic transition temperature.
