Abstract

This paper describes new biokinetic and dosimetric models, especially those being developed by ICRP which will be used in the forthcoming documents on Occupational Intakes of Radionuclides. It also presents the results of a working group within the European project CONRAD which is being continued within EURADOS. This group is implementing the new models, performing quality assurance of the model implementation (including their description) and giving guidance to the scientific community on the application of the models for individual dose assessment.

Funding

The EURADOS working Group 7 ‘Internal Dosimetry’(18) continues the work of WG 5 within the CONRAD project(19) which was funded by the European Commission within the 6th Framework Programme for research and training in nuclear energy (Contract No FI6R-012684). In analogy, the EURADOS WG 7.2 ‘Implementation and quality assurance (QA) of biokinetic models’ continues the work of the CONRAD WG 5.2(20). It implements new biokinetic models including QA of the implementation and the model formulation as well, it gives guidance in the application of the new bio-kinetic models within individual internal monitoring, and it is also involved in the development of new biokinetic models independently from ICRP. This work was partly financially supported by the European Commission, contract number FP6-12684, EURATOM 2005–2008, and by the European Radiation Dosimetry Group (EURADOS).
