Abstract

The kinetics of transformation of CH 4 hydrate to a mixed CH 4/CO 2 hydrate was studied using neutron diffraction technique. Time-of-flight neutron diffraction data were obtained using the General Purpose Powder Diffraction (GPPD) at the Argonne Intense Pulsed Neutron Source (IPNS). Each diffraction spectrum was analyzed by Rietveld profile analysis. The kinetics of the transformation was found to fit well to a diffusion-controlled shrinking core model.
