Abstract

A test of neoclassical tearing mode (NTM) physics in the tokamak (ST) is discussed. NTM is a magnetic island sustained by the perturbed bootstrap current and its behavior in the ST is described by theoretical models. The significance of field curvature effects was confirmed by modeling. It was found that flatter density profiles, higher shaping, higher plasma current, should increase stability to NTMs.
