Abstract
The morphologically templated growth of uniaxially aligned CoFe 2O4 nanorods by a coprecipitation of Co2+, Fe2+, and C2O42- in a microemulsion solution was investigated. The growth process allowed seamless transformation of amorphous nanorods into crystalline nanorods with conformity of the precursor morphology. Both successive Ostwald ripening and 'oriented attachment' processes were found to occur during the formation of sample nanorods. Elemental analysis by an inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy showed that the Co/Fe ratio in nanorods was 1:2.
