Abstract

In this paper a dry frictional contact-impact model of two elastic beams joined by a loose bolted joint is developed and compared to experimental data. The model utilizes the concept of instantly applied non-holonomic constraints and pseudo-speeds to provide the variable structure hybrid parameter dynamical equations for the system. Simulation logic is developed and presented in outline form. An experimental apparatus is described. Simulation results and experimental results are compared and discussed.
