Abstract
Tiny mechanical devices prove even more sensitive than quartz crystal microbalances and surface acoustic wave transducers. Michael Sepaniak, Panos Datskos, Nickolay Lavrik, and Christopher Tipple at the University of Tennessee and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory describe the environmental and biomedical applications that benefit from com bining atomic force microscopy and resonating microcantilevers.
