Abstract

Abnormal subgrain growth simulations were carried out using Monte Carlo (MC) and phase field (PF) models with a view to comparing the simulation results with each other as well as with analytical predictions. The results indicate that there are significant differences between the predictions of the two simulation techniques. The analytical predictions based on mean field approach do not agree with either of the simulation results. Possible reasons for the discrepancies between MC and PF simulation predictions are discussed.
