Abstract
Chemical Ionization mass spectrometry using ammonia and ammonla-d3 as reagent gases Is used to differentiate nitrogen- containing compounds, including amine-substituted polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and azaarenes, as well as compounds containing two nitrogen atoms. This technique Is used to characterize two alkaline fractions of a coal-derived liquid by combined gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.
