Abstract

A review is given of a magnetic structure of the spinel CdCr2 O4, in which geometrical frustration exists between the Cr3 + moments located at the corners of the tetrahedron. It shows an incommensurate antiferromagnetic ordering below TN = 7.8 K with a characteristic wave vector of Q = (0, δ, 1)(δ ∼ 0.09) . We performed spherical neutron polarimetry analysis and determined that the magnetic structure is elliptical spiral in the ac plane with ellipse slightly elongated along the c-axis. An imbalance in chirality domains was also observed.
