Abstract

We give an analysis of the magnetic susceptibility and we present experimental results for magnetic resonances and elastic constants for Sr14Cu24O41. These investigations allow us to determine the magnetic excitation spectrum of the chains, they exclude a possible spin-Peierls ground state and they are in favour of weakly coupled dimers in the chains.
