Abstract

The magnetic properties of powder and oriented single-crystal samples of [Ni(1,2-diamino-2-methylpropane)2(μ-N3)] n(ClO4)n have been measured down to 2 K in fields up to 5 T. The data obtained with oriented crystals suggest an antiferromagnetic ordering occurs near 10 K. A theoretical fit of the data for T > 15 K yields values for the nearest-neighbor spin exchange interaction J ≈ 24 K, when the single-ion anisotropy D = 0.
