Abstract
Geometrically-induced frustration effects in the hexagonal ZrNiAl structure have been studied by elastic neutron diffraction experiments in TbNiAl. Below the Néel temperature of 47 K frustration gives rise to the splitting up into two different types of antiferromagnetically ordered Tb moments. An anomalous magnetic ordering behaviour is also observed when substituting a small amount of Ni by Cu without a change in the crystal structure which will be described in detail.
